Lead Me To Some Soul Today

Lead me to some soul today,
O teach me, Lord, just what to say;
Friends of mine are lost in sin,
And cannot find their way.
Few there are who seem to care,
And few there are who pray;
Melt my heart and fill my life,
Give me one soul today.

(Dwight L. Moody)

How solemn the reminder from the words of this song. “Friends of mine are lost” and what have I done about it? “How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preach- er?” (Rom. 10:4) The term “preacher” used in this verse means “proclaimer.” Your talent may not be in proclaiming the gospel as Peter or Paul did - but can you do what the Samaritan woman did in John 4:29? After realizing that her friends needed to hear what Jesus was saying, she hurried into the city and told them “Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?”

“Friends of mine are lost in sin.” Why not introduce them to the relation- ship that you have in Christ? You can do this by “proclaiming” that we can offer them Bible-based teaching that will help them in their relationship with God and in their daily struggles of life. The majority of adult converts in our culture begin their journey to a new life when they are impressed by the good life of a godly person they have observed. And it was the same in Jesus’ day -- “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matt 5:16)
